Operation Crossroads Africa is a non-profit grassroots program that sends a group of 8-10 volunteers to a designated African country in the summer for 7 weeks. 6 of those 7 weeks are spent working or volunteering with a specific project either medical, education, agriculture, construction or women’s health. The final week is a travel week in which you can travel the country. The organization has been dubbed the precursor to the Peace Corps by President John F. Kennedy. Having sent 12,000 volunteers over the course of 58 years, it is proven the skills you develop and friendships built, stick with you for a lifetime.
