Junie James, project development and coordination manager at ACKHI (African Caribbean Kultural Heritage Initiative), her experience of growing up in Oxford, racism within the school system, and the importance of Black History Month today.
Black History Month, which this year celebrates its 30th anniversary in the UK, is an opportunity to recognise and celebrate Oxford’s African and African-Caribbean community.
During the month we will be sharing interviews with members of Oxford’s African and African-Caribbean community, who discuss their experiences of living in Oxford, the importance of Black History Month, and what needs to happen going forward to improve community cohesion across the city.
