Strengthening Agropastoralist Resilience Through Improved Fodder Value Chains in Somaliland

Aug 16, 2022

The Somalia Information and Resilience Building Action (SIRA), which is funded by the government of the Swiss Federation focuses on fodder value chain improvement to help agropastoralists overcome climate related shocks and build their resilience.

Through the project, FAO is helping agropastoralists to enhance food production, increase livestock productivity and fodder marketing to boost the economy. This is being done through the provision of equipment, tools and training to producers and cooperatives.

FAO has also built 25 storage and processing facilities in two districts to store processed fodder. The project also helped in the formation of 10 cooperatives of fodder producers to enhance fodder production. Food-matters
