Birx testified, before the House Select Subcommittee, that Trump’s White House failed to take steps to prevent more virus deaths. Dr. Birx said that tens of thousands deaths could have been prevented after after the pandemic started if Mr. Trump had pushed mask-wearing, social distancing and other efforts to slow the spread of the virus.
