Rising Rivers: Both America’s longest rivers, the Mississippi and Missouri, are witnessing rising water levels, a concern for many of those who live and work close to their banks. At the confluence in St. Louis, coal ash deposits may be contaminating drinking water, in Louisiana increased currents is causing problems to shipping traffic, while flooding to downtown Davenport has kept businesses shuttered for months.
