There are massively destructive “economic development” activities engaged in by forces in Indonesia, which the government appears effectively to be helpless to prevent, despite deploying military forces to suppress the rampant fires.
At the same time children around the world are protesting these kinds of climate damaging government policies and calling upon governments to halt their increased commitments to headlong environmental destruction while ignoring the ecological impact of their own technologies. In Brazil as well, the government is beginning to deploy its military to help quench the fires ravaging the Amazon. Consider, for example, the headlines from the BBC in two successive hour broadcasts on 13 September:
