The secret language politicians are using – BBC News

BBC News   Published on Jan 28, 2019

Politicians are using coded language to “manipulate people” into making decisions they wouldn’t normally be “morally comfortable with,” a political language expert has told the BBC.

This kind of political message – which only a particular target audience is meant to understand – is known as a “dog whistle,” Professor Jennifer says.

Some have claimed these tactics were used to make people think Barack Obama was a foreigner. Others said UKIP’s “Breaking Point” poster was a racist dog whistle.

So how does it work?

Trump’s Misstatements: Lies, Delusions, Or Manipulations?

Trump’s particular brand of chaos might seem unique, but there’s one man who arguably deserves even more credit than the president for Trumpism. That man is Steve Bannon — Trump’s campaign CEO-turned former White House chief strategist, and the architect of some of Trump’s most extreme policies. Now, he’s the subject of a new film by Academy Award-winning documentarian and Cambridge native Errol Morris. It’s called ‘American Dharma,’ which thus far does not have a distributor. Janitors who work for five cleaning companies and clean 50 stores in the Twin Cites went on strike today.
