Ghana fights insecticide-resistant mosquitoes

Ghana has become the first African country to introduce the large-scale use of a new third-generation insecticide. It targets mosquitoes that have developed a resistance to other chemicals. The strategy has recorded gradual but significant results in Ghana. Last year, there were 4.8 million cases of malaria and 599 deaths, down from the 2,200 people who died in 2011.
