Woman Ejected From West Virginia House Floor For Listing Lawmakers’ Oil And Gas Donors

Published on Feb 12, 2018

Lissa Lucas, a West Virginia Democrat running for the House of Delegates in the state’s Seventh District, was ejected from the House floor on Friday after listing the contributions made to lawmakers by the gas and oil industry. The bill Ms. Lucas opposed, House Bill 4268, would allow oil and gas companies to drill on private land after obtaining the consent of 75 percent of affected landowners. Current law requires consent from all affected landowners–meaning a single person could stop drilling on private lands.
