Remember a time when life was simpler? When the pace wasn’t quite so frantic? When commutes were measured in minutes, not hours? When there was plenty of water for everyone and the air our kids breathed wasn’t so polluted? When beaches weren’t regularly closed due to contamination? US President Donald Trump has declared an emergency in California and pledged additional aid as six wildfires continue to sweep across the southern part of the state. The fires have forced more than 200,000 people to leave their homes over the past five days. Al Jazeera’s Allen Schauffler reports from Ventura County.
