Instead of donating to me, please donate to a charity that impressed me greatly when I saw it in operation in Borneo. It’s an organization called ASRI (Alam Sehat Lestari). It is not religious! The founders are an American doctor and an Indonesian dentist, and their idea is to offer cheap health care to villagers in exchange for an end to deforestation of the rainforest that surrounds them. The result has been better health for local people AND a huge drop in illegal logging.

Land struggle for indigenous people in Brazil

Competing claims over farmland in Brazil have led to divisions and in some cases violence between indigenous people and farmers. This week, Brazil’s Ministry of Justice revoked a decree that had enlarged the smallest indigenous reservation in the country. CGTN’s Paulo Cabral reports.
