This documentary has been shown around the world, including at the UN, on ABC, PBS, BBC and beyond. It’s the story of the illegal electronics waste trade in Nigeria, a global story shown through one major African port metropolis. In 2005, I traveled to Lagos, Nigeria with the Executive Director of a global environmental watchdog organization called BAN based in Seattle. We shot this over the course of 10 hectic days, during the week that Hurricane Katrina hit. Supposedly the Nigerian President watched it with his cabinet and proceeded to cry in front of them. BAN continues to be a leader on the issue and has been instrumental in e-waste laws passed regionally, nationally and internationally http://www.BAN.org
I shot the film, and it was edited by Carol Gertsema of Twisp River FIlms.
