Cells are like tiny, wet computers that we are only just beginning to understand and still have only rudimentary tools to program. Jared Toettcher, Assistant Professor of Molecular Biology at Princeton University, explains how his lab is using optogenetics to control cells using light-gated proteins, and how this could help treat cancer and repair organs and tissue.
