Bolivia Information Forum hosted Climate Justice event in London, November 2nd, 2010

John Vidal talks about Bolivia’s role in the climate talks and what to expect at COP16 – “Bolivia is our moral compass”

Guest speakers included:
Beatriz Souviron, Bolivian Ambassador to the UK,
John Vidal, Environment Editor, The Guardian
Keith Sonnet, Deputy General Secretary, UNISON
Meena Raman, Third World Network
Asad Rehman, Friends of the Earth

In the lead up to COP 16, in Cancun Mexico it was standing room only as guests discussed the current state of the global climate negotiations, Bolivia’s progressive role, and the radical steps we need to take as an international movement to achieve climate justice.

In April 2010 the Bolivian government hosted the first World People’s Conference on Climate Change and the Rights of Mother Earth in Cochabamba, Bolivia. Called in response to the failure of the Copenhagen climate talks, it brought together thousands of people from social movements, civil society and governments from around the world to create a People’s Agreement on Climate Change, and discuss real solutions to the climate crisis.

The evening was hosted by: Bolivia Information Forum, Campaign Against Climate Change, Embassy of the Plurinational State of Bolivia, Friends of the Earth, Gaia Foundation, Jubilee Debt Campaign, World Development Movement, the Green Party
