I had been invited to film at INPE, the Brazilian Space Agency, on behalf of Sun Microsystems to film networked satellites. Tony Hanna, who was producing at Robert Lundahl & Associates brought up Curitiba, which then Mayor Jaime Lerner, had helped develop into a city of systematic sustainability. In order to relate this to the client”s efforts, I then made the computer analogy. which I then compared this structure, this kind of thinking, with a computer system–as U.N. Development Programme representative Jonas Rabinovitch points out. It helps the computer industry figure out where and how to sell services, and helps cities figure out where they need them.
