The Prairie Climate Centre is a collaboration of the University of Winnipeg and the International Institute for Sustainable Development, and is poised to play a central role advancing practical climate change solutions for the Canadian Prairies.
Our vision is to make the Prairie Climate Centre a world-class contributor to the science, policy and communication methods for effective climate solutions and sustainable development for the Canadian Prairies and beyond.
This short animated film introduces you to the Prairie Climate Centre and some of the future scenarios anticipated for our region. As you’ll see, we plan on grabbing your attention on these issues, and make you think about how to achieve a sustainable future.

Welcome to Transition Studies. To prosper for very much longer on the changing Earth humankind will need to move beyond its current fossil-fueled civilization toward one that is sustained on recycled materials and renewable energy. This is not a trivial shift. It will require a major transition in all aspects of our lives.
This weblog explores the transition to a sustainable future on our finite planet. It provides links to current news, key documents from government sources and non-governmental organizations, as well as video documentaries about climate change, environmental ethics and environmental justice concerns.
