Protect Scientists from Corporate Interference

Representative Lamar Smith, chairman of the US House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology, is on the attack again. Backed by his fossil fuel allies, he is attempting to bully several nonprofit organizations and state attorneys general into ending efforts to hold ExxonMobil accountable for decades of climate science deception.

We need your help in standing up to these baseless attacks. Chairman Smith recently subpoenaed the Union of Concerned Scientists, several other nonprofit organizations, and state attorneys general demanding access to correspondence among related to investigations into ExxonMobil’s efforts to mislead shareholders and the public about climate change. His actions are a blatant attempt to intimidate us from doing our job by providing public officials with science and evidence to hold the fossil fuel industry accountable for its deception on climate change, one of the world’s most pressing problems.
