Obama admin says up to 116 civilians killed by US drone strikes

After years of pressure from human rights organizations, the Obama administration has released the civilian death toll from drone strikes in countries the US is not at war with. The report pegs the number of civilian deaths between 64 and 116 in countries such as Pakistan and Somalia. RT America’s Alexey Yaroshevsky reports that the death toll released by US government is much lower than the figures cited by other non-governmental organizations.

Mystery food: US Senators fight Vermont GMO labeling law

Senators from both side of the aisle are trying to defeat Vermont’s new genetically modified organism labeling law, which recently went into effect. RT America’s Anya Parampil reports that large corporations, like Monsanto and Smucker’s, have spent tens of millions of dollars fighting federal and state GMO labeling laws. Then Patty Lovera, assistant director of Food and Water Watch, tells RT America’s Manila Chan that over 60 countries already have GMO labeling requirements and the US is very late addressing the issue.

DARPA creating disappearing drones

The US Defense Advanced Research Project Agency (DARPA) just awarded 2 companies contracts worth $5 million to develop drones that disappear, or dissipate, once they’ve delivered their payload. Sounds like the perfect way to make accountability disappear, too.
