Boehner Blames California Drought On Obama

House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) took to Facebook on Tuesday to recast California’s worst drought in 1200 years as a “man-made water shortage” — not worsened by climate change, but by President Obama himself.

He also asserted that, in the midst of the historic Dust Bowl conditions, Americans still have a God-given right to green lawns.

Boehner, of course, famously said in May that he is “not qualified to debate the science over climate change.” That just affirmed what was clear from his bizarre 2009 assertion: “The idea that carbon dioxide is a carcinogen that is harmful to our environment is almost comical.”

But admitted scientific ignorance doesn’t slow the Speaker down. What has sparked his blinkered outrage this time is this photo he posted on Facebook:

Islamic declaration adds to growing pressure religious leaders exert on richer nations to reduce impact on Earth’s climate

By Kieran Cooke

Human beings could cause the ending of life on the planet, says a group of Islamic scholars − and countries round the world, particularly the rich ones, must face up to their responsibilities.

Climate change, they say, is induced by human beings: “As we are woven into the fabric of the natural world, its gifts are for us to savour – but we have abused these gifts to the extent that climate change is upon us.”

The views of the scholars – some of the strongest yet expressed on climate from within the Muslim community – are contained in a draft declaration on climate change to be launched officially at a major Islamic symposium in Istanbul in mid-August.

Allah, says the declaration, created the world in mizan (balance), but through fasad (corruption), human beings have caused climate change, together with a range of negative effects on the environment that include deforestation, the destruction of biodiversity, and pollution of the oceans and of water systems.

State of Thirst: CALIFORNIA drought = food decline

naturalrights2u ****************

Published on Mar 1, 2014

California`s Central Valley is considered to be the richest farmland soil and productive farmland region in the nation.
In February 2014, state water authorities revealed that many California farmers would receive none of their annual water allocation from the State Water Project. Now, federal water authorities have announced that the farmers will receive no water from the Central Valley Project. There will still be partial allocations for those with pre-existing water rights, as well as to waterways that provide habitat to endangered fish species.
There is a modest amount of good news. Some rain and snow have fallen in February, pushing up the snowpack from 12 percent of average levels to 29 percent. A persistent high pressure system over the Pacific has wrought havoc in weather patterns across North America with its stubborn, anomalous or deliberately engineered position.

Our Forests Are Dying, Are We Next?

Trees are the terrestrial lungs of the planet, and they are dying all over the globe. Government agencies and mainstream media are not reporting on the unfolding cataclysm of this die off. Though the changing climate is correctly associated with off the chart tree mortality, the even larger issue of global climate engineering is still being ignored and denied by the scientific community and media. If the forests die, we will soon enough be next to go. The 10 minute video below should be very sobering to all. Our biosphere is dying. The human race must completely change direction starting with the total cessation of climate engineering. All are needed in the fight to expose and stop the geoengineering insanity, the spraying must be halted if we are to have any chance of salvaging a living planet.

Is An Agricultural Drone Heading For Europe?

Rick Hind, Greenpeace USA, joins Thom. Back in March – the World Health Organization found that glyphosate – a key ingredient in Monsanto’s Roundup herbicide – “probably” caused cancer and was unsafe for humans. Many thought that the WHO study was the first step towards a total ban on glyphosate – especially in Europe – which does a much better job of regulating toxic chemicals than we do. But now – just a few months later – European regulators look set to re-approve the use of glyphosate. How is this possible?

Can we Save the Ocean’s Fish?

The Big Picture RT

Published on Jul 17, 2015

David Pinsky, Oceans Campaign-Greenpeace USA, joins Thom. Greenpeace released the ninth edition of it’s annual report on the state of supermarket seafood in America – called the “Carting Away the Oceans” report. The report scores supermarkets based on four criteria that break down how sustainable and transparent each chain is. This year – 20 of the 25 retailers in the report got a passing score in terms of the report’s criteria for sustainability and transparency. But the report also warns that all of the retailers “must address the industry’s failure to confront human rights abuses and illegal operations in the global seafood supply chain.”
