Orion spacecraft completes first mission – is Mars next?

RT America

Published on Dec 5, 2014
NASA scientists successfully launched the Orion spacecraft early Friday from Florida and, four-and-a-half hours later, the experimental vehicle splashed down in the Pacific. In the interim, Orion traveled more than 3,000 miles from Earth and orbited the planet twice. NASA believes that Orion or a similar spacecraft may be able to bring astronauts to a near-Earth asteroid during the next decade and eventually to Mars. Leroy Chiao, a former NASA astronaut, talks to RT’s Ameera David about the future of the project and what else is planned for the space agency.
