US Stocks Drop Sharply Amid Global Growth Concerns

VOAvideo

Published on Oct 15, 2014

Key Wall Street indexes fell sharply on Wednesday as new economic data from the U.S. added to concerns about the health of the global economy. Although benchmark indexes later recovered from their session lows, the losses threatened to wipe out most of the gains made this year. As VOA’s Mil Arcega reports, the volatility is a normal part of a healthy market – but experts say the market is overdue for a major correction.

Church for Atheists Goes Global

VOAvideo

Published on Oct 15, 2014

Atheists, by definition, do not believe in God. So they should have no need of a church. But two years ago, a pair of British stand-up comedians decided to create one. Sanderson Jones and Pippa Evans told the BBC they envisioned “something like church but without God”. Their “Sunday Assembly” movement has grown from a single congregation in London to dozens of churches around the world. Reporter Mike Osborne visited with the members of a Sunday Assembly that now meets regularly in Nashville, Tennessee.
