In December 2011, college student Abigail Borah spoke up at a U.N. Climate Change Conference in Durban, South Africa. Borah exclaimed, “2020 is too late to wait. We need an urgent path to a fair ambitious and legally binding treaty. You must take responsibility to act now, or you will threaten the lives of the youth and the world’s most vulnerable.” Here, Ambassador Todd Stern takes a moment to respond to Borah’s statements made years earlier. “Well, I think a lot of people feel it’s not happening fast enough. I sympathize with that,” says Stern. “I agree, progress is not being made quickly enough.”

Speaker:
Ambassador Todd Stern, U.S. Special Envoy for Climate Change

Drought and illness send meat prices to record highs

RT America

Beef and pork prices are skyrocketing due to lower than normal populations of cows and pigs. The recent draught in the western US made it more difficult for ranchers to sustain herds of cattle, while a virus killed off as many as six million piglets over the past year. Prices for beef have hit an all-time high, while the cost of bacon has risen 13 percent in one year. RT’s Lindsay France looks into the causes of these price increases in more detail.
