BBC News – Part of cliff collapses into sea near Hastings

Part of the cliff at Rock-a-Nore, near Hastings, has collapsed into the sea because of the force of the storm that has been battering the South East.

Stunned members of the public watched as it broke away on Friday afternoon.

Kevin Ice, who filmed the collapse, said he had never seen anything like it.

Australia experienced its hottest year on record in 2013, officials have said.

Temperatures were 1.2C above the long term average, the warmest since records began in 1910, the Bureau of Meteorology said in its annual report.

There has been criticism from environmentalists that the new conservative government is not doing enough to tackle climate change.
