A new video from the Union of Concerned Scientists, “An Apple a Day,” highlights issues analyzed in their new report, “The $11 Trillion Reward: How Simple Dietary Changes Can Save Lives and Money, and How We Can Get There.” Part of the story is about how our bad farm bills and farm programs contribute to health problems. It’s a great idea, showing the costs of bad health. Unfortunately, the farm bill part of the story is flawed, and is based upon common myths about what a farm bill is and how it works. The myths blame the victims, not the exploiters, and offer false solutions. The proposed solutions, it turns, are really the causes of the problems. My video explains reversal of the films intent, and where to go to fix it.
